2022 FOALS DUE

Come Spring 2022 it will be three long years since we have had any foals born at VSA  but with great excitement and much anticipation in October 2022 we are expecting two foals both by VS Tamaan out of Baring Court Innicah and our beautiful homebred mare VS PShalana.

Tamaan also covered two outside mares and Valley Park Sugar Plum & Sheer Delight, we look forward to hearing foaling news from their owners when these foals arrive.

Despite trying, our beautiful PSophia thinks she is just too good to be a mother yet but eventually it will happen, she can’t be a “Paddock Princess” forever!!!

2020/2021

Well we have all at some point felt despair since early March 2020 onward due to COVID19 which unfortunately is still in our midst. We hope & pray that this hideous virus is eradicated in the near future so that everyone can get back to enjoying a normal life.

Many fellow breeders & equine vets around Australia found the 2020/2021 breeding season extremely difficult including us.  Despite trying to breed two of our mares we had no success so another year without any beautiful Arabian foals frolicking around here.  We just hope that Spring 2021 is better for us and everyone else wishing to continue their Arabian dream.

We did breed Tia who was preg tested in foal but disappointingly Tia absorbed her foal and so it was decided that Tia would go into retirement, at least she had given us one very beautiful treasured daughter VS PSophia to continue her legacy.

Alas another blow we lost our beautiful Oyster Bay Shahtia on the 20th June 2020 following a paddock accident.  A very beautiful treasured member of our family was laid to rest, Tia is sadly missed but never forgotten.

Foaling News 2018

Oyster Bay Shahtia gave birth to a stunning chestnut colt by PShalomar (imp USA) in October, whilst we were disappointed he was not a she, we are now thrilled with the outcome, Valley Springs PSafiq, aka Chilli is a beautiful colt with great confirmation and an amazing temprement, he is the first colt foal we have ever bred we feel has all the correct attributesto remain entire and we believe he has a huge future ahead of him. Chilli has just been weaned and is currently going through the necessary part of his educationaltraining before he goes to his new home with his owner Alesha Laing. We wish Alesha all the very best with Chilli and hope to see him out and about in the show ring in the future.

December 2018 saw the arrival of a beautiful petite chestnut filly out of Bluegrass Gift of Live by VS Tamaan.  Weknow “Jasmine” is very much treasured and loved by her owner Melissa Pearton.  Unfortunately Jasmine had a terrible paddock accident during a thunder storm but thanks to the amazing dedicated care that Melissa has provided hopefully one day we will still see “Jasmine” grace the showring..

Showing News 2019

January 2019 our much loved filly VS PSophia (PShalomar x Oyster Bay Shahtia) attended the 45th All Arabian "A" class Show at Westbury where she was awarded winner of the 2 year old Purebred Challenge and Reserve Champion filly. The beautiful filly that did win Champion Filly and was also sashed Supreme Champion Purebred Exhibit was the stunning JB Classic Dior who is out of a lovely mare that we bred VS Sharanto so needless to say we were over the moon with the judge's decision on the day.

Foals Due 2019

VSA has only one foal due out of Baring Court Innicah aka Nickers by VS Tamaan. This foal will be a full sibling to multi Supreme Champion, VS Armaani. We are hoping for a filly but if Nickers has a colt it will be for sale.

Shasalina Esteem Amira aka Steamy is expecting a foal by Tamaan late September for Michael, Sandra, Dakota and Cody Smith. We hope steamy delivers a beautiful healthy foal and look forward to receiving your foaling news and photos. This foal will be a full sibling to Estamirah another beautiful Tamaan daughter.

Due December 2019, the lovely pony Tungara Chorus Girl aka Jenny is due to foal a full sibling to JB Valentino (dec'd) aka Forest. We wish Claire and Mia Tubb all the very best for another beautiful quiet foal like "Forest" who unfortunately had to be PTS after a terrible paddock accident that rendered him unsound despite everything that was done for him.

We wish Jenny Scheer all the best with SB mare "Tootie" who is also due to foal in December and we look forward to her foaling news and pictures.

Tas ARAB’s 44th “A” class Show

Well it has been eight years since we have actually taken a home bred & owned horse to a show Ourselves but in January we did it,

OMG, talk about me being nervous I was a wreck how ridiculous I know! but the thrill and the excitement when our yearling filly VS PSophia (PShalomar imp USA xOyster Bay Shahtia) was awarded first place in the Futurity was amazing, first time we have ever

won a futurity!!!  Then out Bronc & PSophia went again for the Yearling Filly class where she placed first which meant she had to go back in for judging of Junior Purebred Filly OMG she WON I almost started to cry, talk about proud she was such a good girl on the day which was all I wanted.

Expected Foals for 2018

With news that our dear friends Phill Ryan & Phil Wild from Hideaway are planning on leaving Tasmania and

moving interstate we decided we had best breed two mares to the stunning PShalomar (Imp USA) so

within a week we made two trips to Sunnyside with Baring Court Innicah and Oyster Bay Shahtia to be

bred to PShalomar.  We thought well at least one should be in foal but we are delighted to say both mares

were tested positive so bring on October 2018 another couple of fillies by the amazing PShalomar would be truly awesome, I know I am being greedy but I truly love this stallion

(VS Tamaan x VS Heaven Sent)

          22/11/2005 – 19/7/2017

They say it only happens to the good ones, oh how true that saying is, all my Arabians & welsh ponies are special to me but some you just have that extra special bond with.   It is with a very sad heart I write the passing of our beautiful mare Missy, she was such a gem beautiful both inside and out, anyone & everyone loved Missy she even converted quite a few Arabian critics, she was such an honest gentle soul and the most amazingly comfortable horse I have ever ridden, she was a true Rolls Royce with a mind blowing extended trot and a true armchair canter.  We bred Missy, we showed her briefly for two Supreme Champion Purebred Exhibits then we broke her in she never put a hoof wrong and we enjoyed many miles pleasure riding together until due to my own health issues I was unable to ride her.  Missy was enjoyed for four years by my friend Lyn who felt she needed to get used to riding an Arabian whilst waiting for her gelding to come of age and start his ridden career. Once Lyn was able to ride her boy I felt so sorry for Missy sitting in the paddock, I have never known a horse that loved to go riding like Missy did, I contemplated selling her but it was not meant to be, so I offered her to another dear friend Sue, who also enjoyed some time riding her.  I am extremely grateful to Sue for arranging all the vet visits, treatment and looking after Missy so well for the last few months of her life.

Missy you will be forever missed and never forgotten, until we meet again my sweetest beautiful girl.

OUT & ABOUT

Patara Solomon (VS Tamaan x Kate) took his lovely owner/breeder Pauline Cox to the Library today to change some books and say hello to Fiona.

FOALING NEWS 2016

Liz Siemicki was over the moon with the arrival of her filly Arwen out of Kalypso Momento we wish Liz all the very best with Arwen.

Evelyn Breraton so wanted a chestnut filly by Tamaan and fortunately Ruby fulfilled her wishes delivering a healthy chestnut filly just as requested known as “Flickers of Gold”.

Evelyn also keeps telling me that her gelding VS Prinz (VS Tamaan x Oyster Bay Shahtia) is growing too tall, nice to see Evelyn unintentionally managed to get on him bareback out of the blue, Prinz was 2 & ½

at the time, yes he is going to be a big boy!

We have saved our best news (for us anyway lol) till last we are absolutely thrilled with the arrival of our first filly foal out of the beautiful Oyster Bay Shahtia by the ethereal stallion PShalomar (imp USA) we named our filly PSophia and she is more than we could have ever wished for she is going to be a big beautiful chestnut when fully grown, she has looks to die for, attitude to burn, excellent conformation and a very sweet disposition.  The photos below do not do her justice and has she changed since these were taken.  We hope to show PSophia this coming show season :-)

EXPECTED FOALS FOR 2017

VSA looks forward with much anticipation to the safe arrival of what will be our second foal by the stunning super sire PShalomar (imp USA) in September from VS Heaven Sent.

Foals Due for 2015

Tamaan covered Barring Court Innicah aka Nickers and she is due on the 23rd November and we are looking so forward to this foal. Nickers had a beautiful filly by Tamaan known a Baring Court Lateefa a few years ago but unfortunately Teefa died.

We also had five extremely lovely outside mares visit Tamaan and together with the owners we look forward to the arrival of these foals from October onwards, we thank the owners for entrusting their mares to us and we truly hope their hopes & dreams are fulfilled with the safe arrival of their foals.

Foaling 2014/15

2014 saw the arrival of two foals by VS Tamaan but whilst only two the quality is truly amazing VS Tamaan sired two extremely stunning athletic colts ........

Valley Springs has an extremely tall purebred chestnut colt, VS Prinz out of the beautiful mare Oyster Bay Shahtia, both ourselves and everyone that has seen Prinz in the flesh are truly blown away with this superb foal who is now proudly owned by Evelyn Brereton.

Baring Court Innicah

We are so delighted to announce that Baring Court Innicah aka Nickers now also calls VSA home and we are extremely grateful to Selina Ahel for allowing us to purchase this superb mare, being a half sister to Oyster Bay Shahtia and having already produced a filly by Tamaan a few years

ago we are sure that she will also cross very well with Tamaan and we look forward to the future breeding some superb foals from Nickers.

Erica Nicholls

posted on Face Book recently how pleased she is with her boy “Pie” so great to hear that this little fellow is following in both his parents hoof steps and being such an awesome first time ridden mount.

Shakla’s Maya

Maya pictured below taken 2nd March is now rising 4yo and is one very special filly her beautiful dam Shakla’s Mystique (SK Shakla Khan x Pacquinell Shakira) was put in foal to Tamaan for her first foal at the age of twenty.  Much to our delight she gave her owner Vanessa Powell the beautiful filly known as Maya.

I so love to hear or receive updates from the owners of progeny by Tamaan and was delighted to know how truly happy Vanessa is with her filly.

It was so nice to see Nadja out enjoying the Navigation Ride at Sassafras with her purebred gelding Bashira Lodge Zinjara aka “Zameel” who has grown into such a handsome young man. Recently they were at a club fun day and I saw Zameel in the distance and thought hmmm gee that is a nice looking horse, not even realising who it was lol.  Those that know me know that this is so very true, old blind eyes lol.

Valley Springs Nadal

(Abu Sayeid x J’adore Nizette)

aka “Squizz” was recently broken in, much to the delight of his loving owner Lyn Wrigley he has been absolutely amazing taking everything in his stride.  Squizz & Lynn visited recently and together with a group of friends we went trail riding, I must say I have not seen a youngster behave so well on his first group outing and it was so obvious how much he (with ears pricked) & Lyn (smile from ear to ear) thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their ride.

But even more exciting for me was finding  Valley Springs Extreme  (Eastwinds Axceptional x Eastwinds Second Spring) aka “Exy” who is closely related being a half sister to Tamaan is still successfully competing at endurance with the Dubai Endurance Stables, what an amazing mare she is to still be competing in endurance at 13 years of age.

2012 Allbreeds Stallion Parade

Tamaan along with many other stallions strutted their stuff recently at the Tasmanian All Breeds Stallion Parade in February, it was so nice to see Bronc on the end of the lead with a smile on his face.

The highlight for me at the parade was seeing Nadja Jaehne and Valley Springs Tamaanah doing a display before the audience, I was so proud of them both needless to say ..........

Tamaan’s 2011 Foaling News!!!!

Breeding is not for the faint hearted, Tamaan covered ten mares in 2010 all preg tested in foal, from which there was five foals born for 2011.  But we persevere regardless for the love of it!!!!

On the positive side of breeding we saw the beautiful regal Shaklas Mystique turn twenty years old in 2011 and give birth to her first foal an absolutely stunning chestnut filly.  All the efforts paid off and it was so worthwhile our congratulations go to Vanessa Whelan owner of Mystique and her beautiful filly Maya.

We received news from Rebecca Harrison, delighted to announce the arrival of Arjuna Ridge Rafan a lovely chestnut colt out of Follydown Jumanah.

Shane Reeve from Shasalina stud told us in no uncertain terms he wanted his mare Lynn-Roy Amira Serina to have a chestnut filly, well a filly was born but alas it was bay, however Shane is so pleased with his filly, Shasalina Amira Sharmana (pending) that he says the colour does not matter now lol.

**********************************

Kantarabia Park Tiger Lilly presented Krystal Reid from Archerville Arabians with a long awaited chestnut filly, and what a stunning filly she is.

**********************************

Pauline Cox notified me that their mare Kate had a live healthy colt foal and he in now frolicking around the paddock where she could enjoy watching him from her kitchen window.  Last season Kate had a foal which unfortunately died soon after birth and Kate reared an orphaned foal, so it is so nice to know that Kate has her own baby to look after this year.

Needless to say Tamaan has quite a few foals due from September 2012 onwards some mares visited for a second year in a row, we sincerely hope this year they will give their owners a much awaited foal plus a few new mares are also expecting foals by Tamaan, we wish everyone all the very best with their expectant mares and look forward to hearing their foaling news next season.

Breeding Season 2010

Tamaan covered various outstanding outside mares this season and has several foals due from October onwards.  We are extremely proud that so many people have had the foresight to breed their mares to Tamaan realising the outstanding potential this stallion offers.  A proven sire of superb purebred & partbred foals which all have their sire's amazing people loving temperament.

Agfest 6th & 7th May 2010

Leonie Kirkhope was asked to attend Agfest & be a part of an Arabian costume display, her answer was yes 'if Sherry will let me take Tamaan'.

So with only three weeks’ notice I decided to look for a costume, whilst browsing the web looking for a pattern to make one I found exactly the costume I had in mind so after some deliberation it was decided to put our pending decking repair job on hold and buy a costume for Tamaan & Leonie to strut their stuff in.  Very happy with it and extremely pleased with Tamaan making his first mega public appearance with Leonie and taking everything in his usual un-phased stride.  The Arabian costume display was awesome and a credit to everyone that participated.

2010  SHOW  SEASON  FINALE

Our last show for the season was the Tas ARABs Annual “A” class show held at Westbury on the 17th January 2010.
After a great deal of deliberation we decided to enter Tamaan for this show, and following the huge success at the three previous shows with each of our gorgeous mares we thought we should at least give Tamaan one outing.
Leonie Kirkhope had not ridden Tamaan since December 2008 but she insisted that with only two weeks preparation prior to the show she was certain he would be ready to compete at his first show under saddle.
Saturday 17th January was a beautiful day and despite having attended numerous shows I was extremely nervous.
Bronc showed Tamaan in the led section judged by Glenys Lilley from NSW he was awarded Supreme Champion Led Purebred Exhibit much to our delight.

Next came the ridden section being judged by Allan Preston from NSW, one of Australias highest credentialed judges, the tension built I was so nervous & excited I became quite vocal much to everyone’s amusement when Tamaan & Leonie placed 1st in the Open Stallion class and then the ULTIMATE was Tamaan being awarded Supreme Purebred Ridden Arabian it was a dream come true and a day never to be forgotten, our sincere thanks go to Leonie she had the foresight & belief in Tamaan to know that they could achieve this.  Never in our wildest dreams did we think this was possible at his first show under saddle.  Tamaan is an amazing Arabian stallion, we are so fortunate to have bred him and have him in our lives.

Foals for 2009

Sunny has had a lovely tall chestnut colt, unfortunately Sunny just isn’t prepared to pass on the dilute gene for a palomino foal, regardless Irene is impressed with her latest edition.

VS Lil

After persisting for three years despite the vets telling us to give up Clair Tubb’s arab x welsh pony mare Ulinga aka Fanny gave birth to her bundle of joy a filly known as “Lil” short for Little One.  Everyone is so delighted, Fanny will be 21yo next January and she is the doting proud mother.

Photos taken 16th November 2009

Sweet Rebecca

Margie & Mathrew Johnson of Westbury are extremely delighted with their chestnut anglo filly out of Sweet Rebecca and I must admit I am very impressed with the anglo foals sired by Tamaan to date.

Other News

Annie & VS Tamaanah having some fun.

Annie and Tamaanah are moving forward in leaps and bounds despite plenty of setbacks! hopefully in the next year we will see them out and about not only in halter but under saddle if they keep up the good work!

Show News

Valley Springs Heaven Sent had her first outing in 7 years on Sunday 4th October to the Burnie Show judged by Mieke Bigg (Queensland).  Heaven is such a drama queen but once she was given the once over and presented for her classes she showed beautifully for Bronc.
Heaven won classic head, placed second in classic trot, won the mare class and was awarded Supreme Champion Purebred much to our delight.

New Arrival

VSA have a new edition to the family with the acquisition of a colourful non Arab mare known as Maggie, she has the sweetest disposition and was previously a tourist trail riding horse at Cradle Mountain, Maggie was bred to Tamaan late last season and is due to hopefully give us a coloured foal on about the 3rd February 2010.

The youngsters.............

During winter a couple of Tamaan’s progeny started some under saddle education and are proving to be excellent riding horses for the whole family to enjoy

VS Tamaanah & Annie Jaehne aboard showing us just how laid back she is

Bronc & I have broken in, From Heaven with Love  aka “Missy”  and I am delighted to say she is a fantastic riding horse and I could not be more happy with her, she has an excellent walking stride,  her trot is huge she sure does cover the country and her canter is like sitting in a rocking chair just so smooth she is the most pleasurable youngster I have ever ridden.

Shock horror yes it is Bronc riding Ezar

Missy does care whether she is leading the way or following

                  What a glorious view!

Compliments......

I recently received one of the best compliments from a vet that visited us and a non Arab lover at that, he had previously visited Doug Stevens at Evandale to geld “Simba” an Anglo foal by Tamaan and he told me that he was very impressed with him,  he is so well put together, and has such great attitude and he is just so sensible.   I replied all Tamaan’s foals are like that and he said  well if that is the case you have a very good stallion.   Needless to say I was pretty chuffed by his comments.

Foals Due.....

Tamaan has four foals due 2009/10 we are really looking forward to them all arriving safely, the first is Fanny an extremely pretty Welsh/Arab cross pony she is almost 20yo and it has taken us three years to get her in foal despite the vets telling us to forget it she was past it, her eagerly awaited foal is due in September.

In October Sunny is due, just hoping she has a palomino for Irene’s sake this time round.  To Irene there is only one good colour and that is palomino, mind you she is very pleased with her previous liver chestnut filly, Flame also by Tamaan and despite being harassed by numerous people to sell Flame she is still with Irene, mind you if Sunny has a palomino foal that could change.

Sweet Rebecca (TB) is due in November followed last but not least Maggie due in February next year.

Tamaan has a busy breeding season for 2009 approaching which we are certain he will be extremely delighted about.  Four people, who if not previously are now all good friends of ours who have previously bred their mares to Tamaan are obviously pleased with Tamaan as a sire as they are bringing mares back to him again this season which we think is absolutely fantastic.

This coming summer I am planning on getting out and about and visiting many of Tamaan’s off spring to get some much needed updated photos of them all grown up.

Shows

After four years absence Tamaan has returned to the show ring and was awarded “Supreme Purebred Arabian Exhibit” at the Monds & Affleck Allbreeds Championships, judged by Alan Preston (NSW) who recently judged in Las Vegas & Brazil.  Tamaan was a pleasure to show and won many admirers for his beauty and impeccable behaviour on the day.
On his second outing on the 28th November at the Tas ARABs “A” Class show Tamaan was awarded “Champion Purebred Stallion” judged by Meredith Scullin (Vic).

*******VS Open day 2nd of December 2007 ******

On the 2nd December 2007 friends & visitors were made welcome to the first Open Day to be held since the foundation of Valley Springs Arabians fifteen years ago. It was a glorious sunny day and everyone sat back & relaxed and enjoyed the afternoon, firstly seeing the stud’s resident stallion VS Tamaan both in hand and again returning under saddle ridden by Leonie Kirkhope. Earlier that week Leonie and Tamaan became reacquainted for the first time in 19 months in between Tamaan’s busy mare serving schedule and put on a splendid display showing how tractable & well mannered this young stallion truly is. Next the beautiful mares of Valley Springs then made their appearance and were released at liberty showing their true presence & awesome movement, followed by some of Tamaan’s progeny ranging from 3 months to 3 years old. Much to Sherry & Bronc’s delight the presentation went off without a hitch and was thoroughly enjoyed by all those present.

Sincere thanks go to all the friends & family who without their help this day would not have been possible.
